Meet Krishan Parmar & co – Woodworkers & carvers
Meet Kishan Parmar from the Barmer District in Rajasthan India. He started off by making wooden gifts for export from a young age, learning the skills of traditional Indian carving, painting and finishing from his father. He is an all-rounder and enjoys all the aspects of his job. One of the traditional wooden carving techniques Kishan uses is called Jali carving, which is made up out of ornamental patterns and very finely carved plant-based designs, as used on the Taj Mahal. His beautiful 4 panel Jali screen he has created for us features this design. The screen is often used in humid areas in India such as Kerala to create privacy but still allow air to flow through. He is very proud and honored to know that his products are enjoyed, appreciated and shared in homes outside of India. He wish is to continue to grow in his job.
